It’s been awhile! I’m back in this world, on this page, and, despite all of the deep sadness, pain, and trauma that our siblings, our nation, and our globe are carrying right now, I’ve decided not to choose to dwell in it. What good does that get me?
Look around — who among us has not dealt with a harrowing time in our lives? Who among us has not felt hopeless, misunderstood, lost, anxious, overwhelmed. Searching for some way out. These are essential feelings to humanhood. And we must feel them all – we must feel them all deeply.
But we must also tell these feelings that we are more than they wish to make us feel.
The truth is, it is a privilege to be alive — to be breathing each day, to feel the sun shining on our skin, to have a bed to come home to each night.
I don’t think people take enough time each day to remember these things and how easily they can be taken away from you. None of us are immune to loss! None of us — so stop acting like you are alone in your woes of the world and start remembering that so many others like you have lived it, breathed it, and survived.
I know it’s hard, but choose to be grateful. Please choose forgiveness. Please choose optimism. You never know what could be — what will be — taken away from you.
And while you’re at it, tell the people in your life how you feel about them. Hug a little harder. There’s too much negative energy for you to contribute to it.
Life would be so much easier if we all just choose compassion over jealousy.
In the name of gratitude, thank you to everyone who supports this blog, comments on it, likes my stories, etc. It makes me enormously happy to see my feelings resonate with others.
And, shameless plug because I really want to pursue my art, and prove just how needed writing is in the world as a way to destroy AI and the ever-increasing technological push, please follow my Instagram page (@flyonthewallblog) and share/like the post if it resonates with you.
And thank you for being here, on this Earth. It really needs you.
